Those entities enrolled under MSME are registered with MSME Department of the Central Government under the MSME Development Act, 2006. The Act was established for the promotion and growth of the businesses operating at micro, small or medium scale.

MSME Registration or Udyog Aadhar

Indian economy grows through the means of enterprise creation as one of the prime movers of the economy. In this direction, “Make in India and Made in India” movement is integral to entrepreneurship development across the country. Therefore, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises play a vital role in strengthening the Indian economy.
MSME database is developed and maintained for the purpose of public procurement policy by the Government in which 20% of the procurement for Government projects should be done mandatorily from the MSME units.
Every enterprise who are Micro, Small or Medium Enterprises must enroll itself in MSME. MSME enrollment is valid for lifetime and can be obtained by those who have already started operations. All major activities are eligible for registration under MSME, although the registration is voluntary and must be obtained by business to avail numerous benefits declared by the Government.
